First of all, the oval COULD Be original, but its not a 517th Oval per say, its an "unassigned" oval, worn by units not assigned to a Division. It was worn by the 509 and 551st as well as the Regiments or Battalions that didn't even go overseas. Secondly i certainly wouldn't trust it being sold by someone who clearly knows fuck all. The 517th did not go overseas with the 13th Ab and come back with the 82nd, they were formed as part of the 17th, went overseas as an Independant, and came back with the 13th Ab. The fact he thinks the 13th Airborne went over as soon as early as the 517th leads me to believe he knows fuck all full stop, let alone about the 517th.

And as for the pocket patch, that is FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE, it couldn't be more fucking fake if it tried. How would it be that the 517th PIR and 596th PCEB weren't able to get proper patches made but the 460th were? Simple, the 460th didn't, they were just as shit as the 517th and 596th patches, made by some Italian woman in a shack somewhere, probably paid with food. Also, they were made on felt, like the 596th patches were, not of cotton. he who buys that patch is a complete berk.
