January 31st Photoshoot.

Post by Cpl Bez on Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:51 pm

Hi All,

Me and Jon were discussing the idea of coming up to mine for a photoshoot on January 31st the day before we hit Stoneleigh. First of all, it'd be good to bang a few uniforms together to get some good photos of the different periods, so we need to try and decide who's going to do what.

What i was going to suggest was to try and portray the Unit through all stages of its existence. This means training periods (Standard M42's, Jumpboots, 17th Airborne SSI, Plain M2, Jon?), Combat in Italy (Standard 42s, plain Infantry pot, Jumpboots, Webbing etc). Op.Dragoon (Looking at getting Camo'd 42's and 43's, i can do the 43's. We have enough rigger modded pots and a chute (Thanks Jon Smile ) Maritime Alps (Mustards, with DB Boots and 42/43 jackets, Basque Beret) Battle of the Bulge (M43's or '43 jacket and Mustards, fucked up pot which me and Jon now have, i have the kit for this). Hurtgen Forest (Same as Bugle but with white sheets and sheet on helmets) and then induction into 13th Airborne (M43's with rigger modified trousers, Jumpboots, 13th Ab SSI, late war Para pot M1C with webbing chinstrap. Jon can you manage this mate?)

So lets discuss what people are capable of doing and if they're capable of coming, let me know.

Regards, Bez

I'll start. At current i don't have standard '42s nor do i have painted 42's as i sold mine. But i do have all the kit needed for a camo'd '43 impression as well as a battle of the Bulge impression.

Hi guys!

Sorry to spoil the fun but I can't make the Saturday. It's one of my Girlfriends good mates birthdays and I'm out during the day for it as well as at night.

sorry to let you down. I could have done the Hurtgen!

Bez, as you know I can make Saturday, I think it's worth doing even with the 3 of us. No reason why we can't do more later on! Very Happy

I can manage State side training, Italy, Op Dragoon (just need spraying!!) And late war.

Will be good to dig hte kit out and have and get some quality photos taken!!

In the process a couple of tanks were digging in and one of their sergeants was standing talking to me. Major Paxton walked by and said to the tank sergeant "Your outfit has a reputation of pulling out and leaving people in the lurch. You don't do that to the 517th, I gave orders to my gunners to shoot you if you try it, we are all staying." Major Paxton then went on his way.
