HUGE update.
Hi Guys,
Now i dont know how long this will stay up for, because Jon is due to be doing some updates to the forum, and we may lose this one, but it'll be for good reason.
Myself and Jon feel as though we have hit dead ends in this hobby. Both of us are sick of the politics within groups and the Hobby in general and also feel we've now both reached the point where we're able to do something about this, and not sit back and just put up with other peoples bollocks, and i'm sure others feel the same. As much as I love doing the Rangers, and being with the group (A group that in the most part i dont have any of the above problems with) but Rangers just aren't my bag, Airborne is. You know, I know, the Queen knows it. Jon has left Thunder From Heaven for reasons better explained by the man himself, and now we're both looking at hitting the stage thats going to get other peoples jaws hitting the floor, and this time it's serious.
The first thing is the group will be taking a name change. No longer will it be the Battling Buzzards Living History Group, but the 1st Airborne Task Force living history group. The reason for this is that we wish to incorporate the possibility of British Airborne into the group, in the form primarily of the 2nd Independant Parachute Brigade Group, part of the 1st ABTF. Again there are a number of reasons for this. I have hit a stage where i'm starting to feel more and more guilty that I don't in any way represent the Nation from which I spawned so am going to start collecting British Airborne gear, and Jon is also looking at ressurecting his British Airborne gear. The 2nd Independant Paras are again another of these units that every swinging dick and his dog choose to ignore, and really it's got to stop. Out there, we have the FAAA representing a 1st ABTF unit (very well at that) and thats the only time you'll see such an undertaking in the UK. For those who really wanted to do 517th, thats fine, it'll still be a primary impression of the group, but we now have the chance to do joint US and Brit impressions. It also gives us the ability to hit on the 2nd Independant Paras in Italy and in Greece too, which is something i doubt few people even knew they did, let alone have seen reenacted.
However, we also don't want to be limited to 1st ABTF, and want to be able to hit on the more conventional units when a time or a place fits it better, or even if we are specifically asked.
I am going to work on building a website that I can get big help with at work, and we're going to look at getting some proper display boards ready for displays. This time there will be no let up, and this is going to work.
Any objections to what's been said above, let me know, it's no problem. There's lots more to it, but better said once things are on the move.
Regards, Bez

Re: HUGE update.
Bez,
Firstly thanks for the update. You all know me I'm up for anything being british, american or a playboy bunny so I'm well up for this. However as my Brit kit is there but limited I would prefer to stay on line with the U.S. stuff for a little while.
Good move on the name change mate, it does give us more flexibility on events and units we can do.
Are you still with the Rangers Bez?
Sam
